Just started playing this game, confused about Kim's name
Main Post:
I'm loving the game so far! My roommate and I have been ENRAPTURED. I'm taking my time with it so no spoilers please, but I had a question for the larger fan community that's hard for me to look up without spoiling myself:
Why is Kim Kitsuragi's name both surnames? Kim is a common Korean surname and Kitsuragi is a common Japanese surname. Since I'm not very far, it almost feels like a "Cho Chang" thing to me, but so far the game has been pretty nuanced and sensitive regarding matters of racial dynamics so I definitely don't want to assume something in poor faith.
I'm mixed Korean and my older relatives would genuinely resent anyone who lumps Japanese and Korean people together, which also makes me curious about the motivation behind this choice. (Essentially, most of East Asia has massive beef with Japan for war crime reasons.)
Thanks!
ETA: a lot of people have been pointing out that Kim is also a first name; I previously didn't peg that because I didn't realize it was unisex (I've only seen it on women). Thanks to those who responded, esp with cool historical sources. :) Sounds like this was probably an ill-fated coincidence.
Top Comment: Kim is a Revacholian and his ancestry is Seolite. The nations of DE are themed after real life, but they're distinctively and completely remixed and not like any one culture that actually exists. I think the designers may have picked the name because it alliterates, though. Not through any desire or intention to lump together distinct cultures, or necessarily even with an understanding of the same. DE treats racism and cultural interaction very carefully and with a wry eye, so perhaps there is a deeper meaning, but I don't think so. Kim Kitsuragi just sounds nice in English.

Kim's Games
Main Post:
Anyone know of a source for some simple Kim's Games? Eg "memorize the following sequence of letters, run 10k, then spell as many words as possible with the letter sequence".
SOFLETE has a few of them on their Instagram as part of "Cognitive Loading" training but I'm curious to know if anyone has any other sources that are free.
Top Comment: Interesting. What's bought you to that?? I've recently been taking an interest in how increased cognitive abilities translates to better physical capability, and vise versa. For example, how reaction ball training equates to better fine motor skills when under stress.
Kim K is Deeply Miserable Right Now (And It's All About Attention)
Main Post:
I have a theory: she's miserable, and it's because she's no longer the undisputed queen of attention. And the worst part? She refuses to accept it.
Here's why I think that:
The Bezos Wedding Debacle: It's practically confirmed she left that wedding early, and multiple reports are saying it's because she felt "invisible" while everyone was fawning over Sydney Sweeney. Can you imagine? Kim Kardashian, not the center of attention at a high-profile event. That must have been a crushing blow to her ego. She's built her entire empire on being seen and desired, and now a younger, fresher face is getting that spotlight.
The Age Factor She Can't Ignore: Let's be real, Kim is approaching 50, she's a mom of four, and she's gone through multiple divorces, including a very public, chaotic one with Kanye. She simply cannot compete with a 20-something like Sydney Sweeney. It's just a different stage of life. But Kim seems to be fighting tooth and nail against this reality.
Desperate for Validation, Not Cute: Her constant pushing of increasingly revealing and frankly, sometimes bizarre, "slutty" outfits is just screaming desperation to me. It's giving off an energy of "look at me, I'm still hot, I'm still relevant!" which, ironically, makes her seem less so. It's not a confident, comfortable sensuality; it's a frantic plea for validation that just isn't cute anymore.
The Deeper Toll of Constant Reinvention and the Pursuit of Fame
They all ruined their bodies and accelerated the aging process via constant plastic surgery and going under anesthesia.
Kim k = baggage And let's be honest about the dating pool for the billionaires she supposedly wants to attract. They can easily date a carefree 20-year-old or an an established, confident woman in her 40s who doesn't have an embarrassing, constantly scrutinized past. Kim's reality is that she's a single mom with four kids and a crazy baby daddy, which means undeniable drama and baggage.
Kim really must be miserable trying to compete against her younger self, which is an impossible battle to win. While I don't feel sorry for her—because ultimately, this seems driven by pure vanity—I do think it's a sad situation. She should focus on her children and perhaps pass on the torch instead of fighting her age and trying to compete in a game she's destined to lose.
And let's not forget that she effectively sold her soul for this level of fame. she gave up on genuine relationships, like the one with Reggie Bush, and that her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries was orchestrated for money and publicity, ending just days after the lavish wedding. Kris Jenner actively encouraged this, as Kris's focus has always seemed to be on financial gain and brand expansion, not her daughters' personal happiness.
Top Comment: One of the pitfalls you have when you’re famous for being famous - there’s no hall of fame or farewell tour you can go on before you fade, there’s no throwback you can do to make people love you again, and there’s nothing to bait the hook for the billionaires.
